What is deconstruction, Inc.?

deconstruction, Inc. is a general contracting firm located in New York, NY. We specialize in providing top-quality work for demanding commercial customers. Our personal attention to detail means that we are only able to take on a small number of jobs at any given time, making us something of a "couture" contractor. What that means for the customer is that they can count on us to make sure that every aspect of the job meets or exceeds their expectations.

Unlike many other contractors, deconstruction, Inc. is licensed to conduct business in New York City. We are also fully bonded and insured.

Why deconstruction?

deconstruction, Inc. borrows its name from the deconstruction school of thought founded by Jaques Derrida in the post-Modern Era. Deconstructionism aimed to take everything that was "known" about literature and "deconstruct" it, or take it down to the very essence of the thought behind it. Deconstructionists felt that language itself is meaningless in that it can be interpreted to the point where it loses it's original intention. The thought behind action and writing is what really counts.

The philosophy of deconstruction wasn't exclusively applied to literature. It's influence can also be seen in music, art, and most notably, architecture. An example of deconstruction in architecture is the Guggenheim Museum in Bilboa, Spain, which is the creation of Frank Gehry, a prominent deconstructionist.
